--CHARACTER REFERENCE SHEET--
BASIC DEMOGRAPHICS
Name: Emperor Theodorus Percival
Age: 12, the pinnacle of his species
Gender: Male
Species: Emperor penguin
Languages: Theodorus speaks in a complex mix of body language, quacks and other trumpet-like noises
APPEARANCE
Height: 3.5 feet
Weight: 80 lbs
Build: Very tall and with a large chest area, with very small legs and a small head. Orange and black beak measuring around 3 inches
Skin: Covered in thin feathers. Black in the back, white in the front. Also a small white patch in the area around the ear. The white parts have a golden taint.
Hair: Doesn’t have any. Just plumage.
Eyes: Very, very dark. Observing carefully, one could find a white area, but for most they are just black points that merge with the feathers.
Other traits: Instead of hands he possesses flippers, adapted from wings for a marine habitat. Has a very small, black tail and small paws.
Clothes: A small crown and a red, waterproof cape. They are both very adjusted so they don’t fall out when he’s swimming.
PHYSICALITY
Demeanor: Theodorus walks with formidable posture and careful steps. When haste is needed, though, he can slide on ice at an incredible speed... If there’s ice to slide on, of course. Sadly enough, probably only penguins can appreciate his careful and elegant demeanor.
Speech patterns: As explained in the language section, Theodorus communicates with a mix of seemingly strange movements and even weirder trumpet-like sounds. The speech is actually a very complex one, but it takes a bit of time to create sentences. Some might find the sounds a bit obnoxious.
PERSONALITY
Overview: An Emperor Penguin that recently took the throne
Passions: His passion is, first and foremost, his people. He’s willing to die for the Empire and would do anything for it. Despite himself, Theodorus is also passionate about war.
Fears: Being jailed. Extreme heat. Killer whales. Losing the war.
Strengths: Naturally charismatic, very tall for his race, well spoken and, from the perspective of a human, really cute with his little crown and the cape.
Weaknesses: He’s a penguin, no matter how powerful, which could probably make him one of the weakest in the Insomnium. He’s also quite easy to fool, since he expects honesty by default.
Quirks: -He prefers to eat while underwater.
-Despite his royal status, he doesn’t like honorifics. He still wants people to talk to him respectfully, though.
-He’s very fond of puns, but the ones that he makes are a bit terrible.
HISTORY
Dream: Theodorus dreams of places that make him feel free. Ironically enough for an Emperor, though, this freedom is often represented by loneliness in very big, wide open spaces. Theodorus isn’t a lucid dreamer and doesn’t realize why everyone’s gone, but he enjoys the peace and likes to play around.
Homeworld: From the 11th to the 13th centuries, there was a big war in Europe and the Near East, where Christians and Muslims fought for control of Jerusalem, the Holy Land. This is a well known fact.
Lesser known, though, is the fact that, while humans were fighting their wars, in the Antarctic penguins were dealing with a similar problem.
The Continental penguins were coming from several generations of great prosperity, when every penguin had a cave to live in and enough fish to feed on. This had started, of course, with the discovery of the Great River of Cog, where there was enough food to feed the entirety of the Holy Continental Empire.
The problem started, however, with the appearance of the Sub-Antarctic Kingdom, a previously unknown realm that claimed to have lived there centuries ago, before it belonged to the Continental Empire, and threatened to once again take dominion of the Great River of Cog. It was obvious to everyone that, if both realms were to occupy the Great River, the fish would disappear. That is how the Penguin Wars begun.
150 have passed since, and the wars aren’t showing any signs of stopping. After several years of guiding the Continental army, Prince Theodorus Percival has been crowned Emperor, and his people are hoping for the best under his rule.
Family/Friends: He has 4 brothers and 3 sisters, but isn’t specially fond of any of them. To him, all of the citizens of the Empire in its entirety represent his family and friends.
History: Theodorus Percival is a member of the Continental royalty and, as such, was educated in matters military and political since even before he had grown black feathers on his back. While most members of the Imperial Family are set to leadership or bureaucratic roles, though, Theodorus decided that it would be hypocritical to stand by in safety while he saw how his people died in the Penguin Wars. He decided that the best choice would be to become a soldier, himself.
It was in the battlefield that Theodorus gained the unconditional respect of his people. This was not only for being the kind of Prince that would prefer to fight for his realm rather than to stay idly, but also for being a great soldier on his own right.
When Theodorus’ father Henry Percival fell deathly ill, he mandated that Theodorus should became Emperor after him, since despite not being the eldest, he knew that he was compassionate and would be beloved by his people. Solomon, the eldest, was not happy with the decision, and Theodorus knows perfectly well that his brother might plan a rebellion or coup against him in the future, but decided that he can’t trial him until it does happen. For two months has Theodorus been emperor, and the general populace is comfortable with the decision, but he, himself, is getting to see that being in absolute power might not be what he actually wanted.
Sleeping: Theodorus is sleeping on his throne, actually, since being an Emperor is a taxing job. He lives in a huge cave with many secret passageways, protected by the imperial guard.
SKILLS
Primary Skills: Theodorus is good at three things: Strategy, politics and combat. He's a great planner, charismatic and well trained.
Combat: Theodorus is an excellent swordsman and knows how to fight multiple enemies at once. He never fought anything the size of a human, but he might be able to find good tactics.
Weapons/Gear: Theodorus is carrying a short sword made of very thick ice, mostly because he only takes it off for special circumstances, since it takes two assistances to put it on.
Unusual Abilities: ...He’s kinda smart, for a penguin.
